The swing is finished -- now it's time to prepare it for hanging. Note: Project plans may be viewed with  Materials: Aerosol exterior wood finish
Drill with 3/8" bit
3/8" Eye-bolts
Washer and nuts
Safety hooks
Plastic coated steel chain
Heavy-duty safety hooks and eye-bolts
- Measure from bottom of post about 5" (on both front and back posts).
- Drill hole through outer side of post (figure A) and add eye-bolt (figure B). Use washer and nut to secure.
- Repeat for all posts.
- Then, spray on quick-drying exterior finish (clear) to protect the wood (figure C).
- While swing is drying, prepare area where swing will hang. Safety hooks should be added to ends of chain to hook to eye-bolt on swing (figure D).
- The front chains will be slightly shorter than the back length of chain. The two will be joined in the middle (figure E) by a thick fastener.
- At the chain's end, another heavy-duty safety hook will join a heavy-duty eye-bolt that has been secured to a ceiling beam (figure F).
- Finally, the safety hooks on the short and long ends of the chain are attached to the swing's eye-bolt and the swing is hung.
