    Host Amy Devers puts on a coat of primer and water-based semi-gloss paint on all of the ribs. She screws the rod into the threaded insert and then drops on a couple of aluminum spacers. Lastly, she screws the nut around the threaded rod at the bottom and uses a socket wrench to tighten the nut onto the bolt.

    white glue

    threaded inserts
    nut

    Finishing Touches

    Safety Note: This is a decorative fire screen. This is NOT to be used or placed in front of a real wood burning fire place under any circumstance!

    1. Put a coat of primer and coat of water-based semi-gloss paint on all the ribs.

    2. Cut the threaded rods to size and chase the threads.

    3. Screw it into the threaded insert (figure A) and then drop on a couple of aluminum spacers.

    4. Once you have the final rib, screw the nut around the threaded rod at the bottom and use a socket wrench to tighten the nut onto the bolt (figure B).
