Among the other real-life adventures available at Walt Disney World:

    Surfing

Classes are taught twice a week by master instructor Craig Carroll, trainer of world-champion Kelly Slater. Almost 90 percent of the students learn to stand up on a surfboard in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon, Carroll says. And he personally guarantees that Disney surfers will never have to worry about one of the biggest dangers they would face on the ocean: sharks.

    Golf

Guests can tee off at any of five championship courses, including two that have been part of the PGA Tour for more than 30 years, the famous water-lined Palm and Magnolia courses. There's also a nine-hole walking course, Oak Trail.

Walt Disney World's golf courses recently received a Gold Medal in Golf Magazine, the publication's highest rating. It is one of only 22 resorts in the continental United States to be so honored. Golf Digest also named Walt Disney World to its latest list of the top 75 golf resorts in the United States.

    Horseback Riding

A 45-minute guided trip through swaying pine forests begins and ends at the Triple D Ranch, located in the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. The pace of the ride is relaxed, and even a first-time rider should feel comfortable as they mosey along single-file. Minimum age is 9. Helmets are optional.

    Boating

There are more than 500 boats that ply the waters of Walt Disney World, everything from sailboats and pontoon boats to Disney-designed specialty crafts called WaterMouse mini-powerboats.

    Scuba Diving

Certified divers can enter the 6 million-gallon aquarium at the Living Seas exhibit in Epcot, swimming alongside sea creatures ranging from angelfish to 300-pound turtles. The guided DiveQuest scuba-diving program is offered twice a day.

    Skiing

Hour-long sessions for water-skiing, tubing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding are available at the Sammy Duvall Water Sports Centre, located at the Contemporary Resort marina and the Caribbean Beach Resort.

    Parasailing

Single and tandem fliers take off from the back of a boat without touching the water and sail up to 600 feet above the lake for 7 to 10 minutes.

    Tennis

There are 30 lighted tennis courts throughout the park.
