Cutting straight lines with a circular saw can be a challenge. A saw guide can solve that problem.

    Materials:

    Protective eyewear
    Circular saw
    Ruler or measuring tape
    1/4" plywood for base
3/4" plywood or hardwood for fence
    Drill and drill bits
    Screws

    1. Put on protective eyewear before making cuts with any type of power saw.

    2. Cut 3/4" plywood or hardwood to a width of 12" for the guide's fence (figure A).

    3. Cut the 1/4" plywood to the exact length of the fence.

    4. Attach the fence perpendicular to the bottom of the 1/4" plywood, using a power drill and screws (figure B). If the screws protrude, file or sand them down to protect your hands.

    5. Any plywood that extends more than 6" to the right of the fence is excess material. Cut it off with the circular saw (figure C).

    6. Screw or clamp the finished guide in place before using it.
