The jigsaw, or saber saw (figure A), is another versatile cutting tool. It uses a reciprocating blade, which moves up and down as it cuts. To change the blade, loosen the blade-locking screw (figure B) or pull the blade-release lever (figure C) and pull out the blade.
Some jigsaws include a roller that helps keep the blade straight. To adjust the roller, loosen the locking screw from the bottom of the saw (figure D), reposition the roller, and tighten the screw.
A scrolling jigsaw has a pivoting head (figure E) that allows you to change the direction of the cut without turning the saw.
