For crown molding projects, you'll want to make a compound miter cut. First, set your miter cut angle. Then release the locking handle and tilt the saw to the appropriate angle based on the guide (figure A). Then cut the wood by pulling the saw straight down as described in Part 1. If you need to cut a wide board, the sliding feature will come in handy. Start with the saw pulled toward you, and cut toward the fence. If you make cuts by pulling the blade toward you, the wood will close up around the blade, causing it to bind.
