Compound miter saws typically range in price from $150 to $600. Another versatile tool is the compound sliding miter saw, which allows you to make cuts at a variety of angles. One cut is the simple chop, which goes straight up and down (figure A). The saw is also able to make miter cuts, which are often used in corners (figure B). To make a miter cut, loosen the clamp holding the saw in position, and rotate it until the guide is set to the appropriate angle (figure C). Cut the wood by pulling the saw straight down.
