This week Weekend Handyman host Paul Ryan demonstrates a cordless impact driver. Have you ever used a cordless drill to drive screws in and had the screw-head stripped into oblivion? If so, you may want to consider using a cordless impact driver that's created to drive a screw without the hassle of stripping the head of the screw.
How Does It Work? When you pull the trigger, not only does the drill turn, but it provides a fast "tapping" action, and that tapping action in combination with the turning of the drill prevents the dreaded stripping of the screw head (figure A). A number of manufacturers make these compact, easy-to-use cordless drivers.
