In our handyman tool tip this week, host Paul Ryan will share some great tips about some new and innovative clamps.
Caulk Gun -- Surprised? Yes, a caulk gun can work as a clamp. If you have two pieces of wood that need clamping, simply place them together, place them in the caulk gun and clamp (figure A).
Quick Grip Spreader -- Let's say you need to glue a chair that needs repairing and the legs needs to be spread apart. You can use a normal quick grip to do the job. Simply take one end of the clamp apart, flip it around and slide on the other end, and now it becomes a spreader (figure B).
Surgical Tubing -- Now that the chair is spread apart and you've re-glued it, now you need to clamp it back together. If you don't have a bar clamp or strap clamps, surgical tubing will work perfectly (figure C).
Another clever way to clamp two small pieces of wood together is to use a mouse trap. It's easy and inexpensive.
