Hot-glue guns are used instead of bottled glue to bond smooth surfaces, fill cracks in wood and repair broken household items. Newer-model glue guns can take different nozzle attachments (figure A) with thick or thin openings, depending on the size and type of material being glued and how much glue needs to be dispensed. Many different kinds of hot glue are available for filling, mending, bonding, sealing and use on wood (figure B). Here's how to build a simple stand on which your glue gun can rest. Materials:
Glue gun and hot glue Top of a jar Two small pieces of lumber Broom holder - Glue the top of a jar to the end of a small piece of wood (figure C). The top is used to catch any dripping glue.
- Glue a small piece of wood perpendicular to the base to use as a rest for the gun (figure D).
- Glue a broom holder on top of the rest to hold your gun (figure E).
