Garden-craft artist Lark Foster combines sticks from the yard and acrylic paint to create a fantastic centerpiece.

    Materials:

    Sticks
    Curly-willow branches
    Ginger blooms
    Acrylic paint in various colors
    Painter's tape
    Foam brushes
    Paper plate
    Silver spray paint
    Red spray paint

    1. Pour green and yellow acrylic paints onto a paper plate. Apply a light coat of green acrylic paint onto a curly-willow branch, using a foam brush.

    2. Add a coat of yellow acrylic paint (figure A).

    3. Apply a light coat of purple acrylic paint to another curly-willow branch (figure B).

    4. Apply red spray-paint to ginger blooms. Brush black acrylic paint onto the tips of the blooms to add an antique look (figure C).

    5. Spray-paint a bundle of branches silver. Gather and secure them at 1" intervals with painter's tape (figure D). Paint the exposed portions of the branches with black acrylic paint (figure E). Remove the tape for a silver-and-black striped look (figure F).

    6. Spray-paint branches red. Add yellow acrylic-paint stripes (figure G).
