Be sure to leave the sprinkler head protective caps in place during the installation.

    1. Start by marking on the zone pipe where the saddle-T will be installed.

    2. Slide a saddle-T onto the poly zone pipe (figure A) and tighten down securely with a nut driver (figure B).

    3. Push down in the center of the saddle-T with the core tool and twist. A small hole will be cut from the pipe.

    4. Place barb fitting onto saddle-T and screw down tightly.

    5. Push an 18" section of 1/2" poly pipe (swing pipe) onto the barb securely.

    6. Screw another barb fitting into the base of the sprinkler head (figure C).

    7. Heat end of the swing pipe (the 1/2" pipe that attaches the sprinkler head to the saddle-T) with a propane torch. Be careful not to burn the pipe -- a few seconds with the torch is sufficient to heat up the pipe and cause it to expand slightly.

    8. Push the swing pipe onto the barb as far as it will go.

    9. Set sprinkler head in place (figure D) and backfill with dirt. (A good way to keep the sprinkler head in place while you do this is to place one hand down onto the sprinkler head and push down so that it is flush with the ground. With the other hand, pull several handfuls of dirt into the hole and pack tightly around the sprinkler head.

    10. Continue backfilling until the sprinkler head is level and flush with the ground.
