DIY Network's special
Habitat Homes: Building for the Future chronicles the reconstruction efforts in the Gulf Coast region (New Orleans) battered by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, highlighting the Musicians' Village. The Village, conceived by Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marsalis, will consist of 75 Habitat-built homes for displaced New Orleans musicians. The special also takes a look at the 200,000th Habitat house, built in Knoxville, Tennessee, and the 200,001st house, in Kuttapuly, India, an area rebuilding after the devastating tsunami of December 2004.
The goal of Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization, is building affordable homes to eventually eliminate poverty housing around the world. Join us for a heartfelt look at Habitat Homes: Building for the Future on DIY!
