    1. With the flow line established, it's now time to position the boulders. If you're using boulders from your own yard, use a hand truck to move each rock into its pre-determined position. If you've purchased your boulders, have them delivered and put into place by the supplier.

    2. "Plant" the boulders by digging a shallow bowl for each one. Move the boulder into the bowl by rocking it into place. You can also use a prybar and a small rock underneath the bar to create leverage beneath the boulder.

    3. Place at least two other stones of different sizes near the boulder to give it a more natural look. Then fill in around the edges of your boulder and rocks with soil. Tamp it in place.

    4. Plant cottonwoods or other selected trees on the banks of the dry stream bed.
