Host Mayita Dinos begins transforming a narrow, shaded, unused space between the house and garage into a charming retreat. The first step is to establish vertical plantings using wall-secured "trelliage" and a freestanding trellis. (A trelliage is similar to a stand-alone trellis but must be fastened to a wall or other structure for support.) Materials: Shovel Trowel Rake Drill Screws 12" Concrete pavers Trelliage Trellis Urn Cafe table and chairs Low-voltage lighting kit (Order the trelliage from a garden supply company if it's not available at local garden or home centers.) - Remove any weeds or grass from the space.
- Measure the wall where the trelliage will be placed across to find the center point.
- Center the trelliage on the walls center point, and "eyeball" its placement to see how high on the wall it should be positioned.
- Use a level at the side of the trelliage to make sure that it is straight.
- Attach the trelliage to the wall using the drill and screws.
- Place the free-standing trellis against the opposite wall.
