    episode WKL-111

Host Mayita Dinos begins transforming a narrow, shaded, unused space between the house and garage into a charming retreat. The first step is to establish vertical plantings using wall-secured "trelliage" and a freestanding trellis. (A trelliage is similar to a stand-alone trellis but must be fastened to a wall or other structure for support.)

    Materials:

    Shovel
    Trowel
    Rake
    Drill
    Screws
    12" Concrete pavers
    Trelliage
    Trellis
    Urn
    Cafe table and chairs
    Low-voltage lighting kit

(Order the trelliage from a garden supply company if it's not available at local garden or home centers.)

    1. Remove any weeds or grass from the space.

    2. Measure the wall where the trelliage will be placed across to find the center point.

    3. Center the trelliage on the walls center point, and "eyeball" its placement to see how high on the wall it should be positioned.

    4. Use a level at the side of the trelliage to make sure that it is straight.

    5. Attach the trelliage to the wall using the drill and screws.

    6. Place the free-standing trellis against the opposite wall.
