Jay Leno's Duesenberg Murphy Beverly was originally owned by wealthy socialite Evalyn Walsh Maclean whose family had made their fortune in gold. Evalyn Maclean's own story is itself a rather remarkable one. In addition to the Duesenberg, she was also owner of the fabled Hope Diamond as well as the Star of India — the world's largest star sapphire. At the time of the famous Lindbergh kidnapping, Maclean became involved in the case, playing a role during the investigation, appearing as a witness in the trial and personally offering up ransom money for the safe return of Lindbergh's kidnapped son.
