Jay Leno's Duesenberg Murphy Beverly was originally owned by wealthy socialite Evalyn Walsh Maclean whose family had made their fortune in gold. Evalyn Maclean's own story is itself a rather remarkable one. In addition to the Duesenberg, she was also owner of the fabled Hope Diamond as well as the Star of India the world's largest star sapphire. At the time of the famous Lindbergh kidnapping, Maclean became involved in the case, playing a role during the investigation, appearing as a witness in the trial and personally offering up ransom money for the safe return of Lindbergh's kidnapped son.
