In this episode of DIY's
Weekend Remodeling, host Fuad Reveiz turns a typical dining room into an oak accented dining haven that is both warm and inviting by installing custom wainscoting. After the prep work is complete Reveiz is ready to make the panels. He does this using oak paneling sheets custom measured for each wall. Once the panels are cut he applies a stain conditioner that will allow the stain to absorb evenly when applied. Once the conditioner is dry the stain is applied. The panels are installed and extra cuts are made to accommodate the wall outlets. After the panels are up on all the walls Reveiz is ready to customize the wainscoting. First he installs all the baseboards, then the top rails. The stiles are installed making sure they are plumb. Our host adds the finishing touches by installing the chair rail that covers up the rough edge at the top.
