Host Maureen Gilmer takes on the challenge of a water garden that has been dormant through the winter and is now algae-ridden. To begin the "spring cleaning" process, Gilmer removes the resident fish, placing them in a bucket of water while she drains the pond. Next, she cleans the pond liner and filtration system, then refills the pond with fresh water. After treating the water with the right amount of chlorine, she returns the fish to their home. Finally, she divides the existing water-plants, which are not only beautiful, but essential for healthy, well-balanced pond water.
