In this episode host Jeanne Benedict assists Marlena and Mark in hosting a Puerto Rican Carnival for a handful of their friends. Marlena is from Puerto Rico and she wanted to bring the experience of Carnival to her friends. Jeanne and Mark make a large mask for decorations. The design is based on the Vejigantes that appear at the Carnival celebration. For the food buffet, Jeanne and Marlena twist wire into a dancing figure and outfit it with bright fabric and ribbons to mimic the look of the Vejigantes. These figures also hold cards that tell the guests what dishes are offered on the buffet. The buffet will be accented with a beautiful ribbon runner that Jeanne and Marlena make. In the kitchen, classic Puerto Rican recipes such as Soffrites, Empanadas and Tostones are made for the guests to enjoy. During the party guests can decorate their own Vejigante masks.
