Caren Seaman and her son have attempted only minor home improvement projects before. Now they're ready to give their living room a major overhaul. They want to tear out the rock fireplace surround, replace it with a traditional wood mantle, paint the walls a rosy red using a faux technique and install a hardwood floor.
