Matthew McAvene and his wife Sarah McCullagh are both artistic do-it-yourselfers who enjoy working on creative projects around the house. Their latest plan involves transforming a freestanding, screened-in patio into an outdoor bedroom with a tropical theme. They plan to cover the cinderblock walls with reed fencing, turn an old planter into a water feature and apply faux-finishes to just about every other surface in the room.
