Denise and Phil Washko became do-it-yourselfers the day they moved into their 60-year-old, single-family home. After trying various projects around the house, the couple is now ready for a major overhaul of the kitchen. With the help of Phil's father and mother-in-law, the plan is to knock out two walls and open the kitchen up to the adjacent living room. Then, the Washkos will build an island where the walls were and give the rest of the kitchen a facelift. Have Phil and Denise overestimated their skills by trying such a big project?
