Project by Valerie Tremelat from Minneapolis, Minn. Valerie is a law clerk by day, but she loves to make jewelry. In this project, she makes fused glass earrings.
Materials:
bullseye glass (tested for fusing, COE 90) 22-gauge fine silver wire thin kiln shelf paper Klyr-fire glue
Steps:
1. Prepare your area and materials.
2. Attempt to get two small squares of similar size of black and clear glass. Cut some pieces of dichroic glass.
3. Make two little fine silver loops.
4. Clean the glass. Cut the shelf paper to the proper size and get it all ready on the shelf.
5. Make your glass sandwiches with a black base, silver loop, dichroic glass in the middle, and clear on top. Use glue on a toothpick to set the pieces in place.
6. Fire in the kiln.
7. Work-harden the silver after firing by tumbling the pieces for three hours.
8. Add earring wires.
