Steps:1. Cut out a piece of copper.
2. Coat the copper with a tar-like substance called asphaltum.
3. When its dry, write on the surface with a fine point scribe, which removes the asphaltum in only those areas.
4. Drop the piece in nitric acid. This etches away the written areas.
5. Clean the piece and use the torch to give it a patina.
