    Jill always wanted to make circular paintings. In this project, she has created a gorgeous painted sphere that is used as a calendar.

    Materials:

    plastic foam ball
    rigid wrap
    joint compound
    modeling paste
    gesso
    oil paint

    Steps:

    1. Wet rigid wrap and wrap around plastic foam ball (figure A). Let dry.

    2. Apply joint compound (figure B). Let dry.

    3. Sand to make a smooth surface.

    4. Prime surface with gesso.

    5. Decoupage date and month around sphere (figure C).

    6. Fix edges with modeling paste. Let dry and sand until smooth.

    7. Design sphere. Draw designs with pencil (figure D).

    8. Paint designs (figure E) with three coats of oil paint and let dry.

    9. Apply a coat of varnish for protection.

    10. Cut out stand for sphere on machine. Sand, prime and paint stand.
