    In this project, Joanna whips up an embossed fabric make-up brush bag.

    Materials:

    iron
    acetate-rayon velvet
    bold rubber stamp *
    spray bottle
    fabric fray glue
    eyelets
    eyelet tool

    * Finely detailed stamps will not emboss well.

    Steps:

    1. Set iron to dry wool setting.

    2. Cut velvet to a rectangle. Use glue along the edge to stop the fraying.

    3. Place the rubber stamp facing up on top of the ironing surface.

    4. Place the velvet right side down on top of the stamp. Spray the back of the fabric with water.

    5. Place iron on top of stamp for 20 seconds or so to emboss it. Avoid the steam holes. Lift the fabric from the stamp (figure A) and repeat as desired.

    6. Sewing the bag: Turn down top edge 1 inch.

    7. Sew a seam across the top, leaving about 3/4 inch at the top.

    8. Fold fabric in half with the pile facing in. Sew along the edge. Turn bag right side out.

    9. Place desired amount of eyelets around the edge of bag (figure B). Thread thin rope through and tie closed (figure C).
