    Steps:

    1. Wind a tight round ball of coarse sheep roving to create the head core.

    2. Cover the head with wool batting and then with stockinette so it creates a long shape attached to the head.

    3. Stitch by hand with string to create eye lines, ear lines, nose, neck, breasts, waist, and buttocks (figure A).

    4. Cover the head and body core with skin fabric.

    5. Sew the arm and tail, stuff with wool, and sew onto body.

    6. Make eye sockets and embroider eyes and mouth (figure B). Add cheek color.

    7. To make a top: Crochet a top, or stitch one from fabric. Attach top (figure C).

    8. To make hair: Crochet or stitch hair together with sewing machine (figure D) and attach by hand onto head.

    9. Embellish as desired with hair decorations, a crown of "seaweed," jewelry around her waist and/or neck, a crocheted shawl, flower or shell accents on bikini top or hair, strung pearls, beads, sequins, etc.
