After losing to his son Matt at chess 35 times in a row, John hopes his luck will change for the better once Jimmy builds him a custom board. The guys get tips and inspiration from players at the Village Chess Shop in New York City. Jimmy makes a chess board out of maple and walnut wood, giving it a clean and classic feel. While John receives a private lesson from a grandmaster he crafts the chess pieces using a special rubber molding technique. Armed with a unique board and new tips, John is positive that Matt's winning ways are over. He expects to emerge victorious and remind Matt not only that he's the boss, but that he's also the daddy! Checkmate!
