John and Jimmy DiResta create a garden fountain for their friends at the Staten Island Botanical Garden. Jimmy uses foam which he carves into a base and bowl using knives and an adhesive spray. Next, the brothers use a special hardener and resin to create an exoskeleton out of putty which can be continually smoothed while it cures, making it ideal for touching up and adding decorative details. An electric water pump and tubing are added to bring water from a self-contained reservoir through the spout to the surface. Finally, the piece receives a bronze finish.
