Just exactly how do you get red-eye out of all your pictures? And how can you prevent it from happening in the first place. Professional photographer Erin Manning understands how the red glare in a subject's eyes can completely ruin an otherwise perfect picture and teaches a student how to insure they never have that problem again. Erin begins by explaining what causes redeye before moving on to the various ways of avoiding it. First, she teaches her student about the redeye reduction feature on their digital camera and explains exactly how it works. She then demonstrates how external slave flashes work on even the simplest point and shoot digital cameras before describing the concept of using a bounce flash to illuminate a room. However, if all these methods fail, all is not lost – Erin brings the student back to her studio for a lesson on how to remove redeye using photo editing software.
