Grace-Anne and Erik Alfiero started work on their Florida room three years ago; after encountering problems with the fireplace and bookcase surround, the couple became confused and the fireplace became a safety hazard that wasn't up to local codes. The
DIY to the Rescue crew removes the freestanding fireplace, then helps the couple install a new, safer electric fireplace and surround. The fireplace receives new molding, and the windows are updated with new plantation shutters to coordinate with the bookcases. The room is tranformed from a cluttered, dysfunctional space into a bright and inviting living area.
