In this project Andrew Totolos, host of DIY's
Tricked Out, upgrades a factory stereo with an outboard amplifier, custom amp-cover and subwoofer. A 2003 Mini Cooper S-type is our project car, and this one has seen quite a few modifications already, but the stereo remains appallingly stock. We start today the project by showing the right way to tap into a stock radio so you can keep your factory wiring and dash appearance, then we add an amplifier with a custom wiring cover to pump up the juice. We finish up with a fiberglass subwoofer enclosure thats lightweight and tucks away neatly in the back corner of the car.
