This episode of
Tricked Out, host Andrew Totolos performs a low-cost rear brake conversion on a 1997 Honda Civic hatchback. The Civic's rear drum brakes get upgraded to a disc-brake system salvaged from an Acura Integra. To further enhance this Honda's stopping power, the brake master-cylinder, power booster and distribution block are also replaced--this time with brand new Acura parts. Along the way, Andrew discusses the advantages of seeking out compatible "donor cars" with interchangable parts as a way to save money on your performance enhancements. Finally, Andrew shows how to bleed the brake lines before reinstalling the wheels on the project car. The net effect of this upgrade: eye-catching good looks and a significantly reduced sixty-to-zero stopping distance.
