Master potter Bill van Gilder demonstrates how to combine two bowls at the wet stage to form a server. He adds textured-clay handles and reed and bamboo handles. He also makes a second server in a larger size. The show includes a field trip to a Philadelphia studio, where two potters share their unique technique called parts and darts.
