Master potter Bill van Gilder demonstrates how to make an oval form from a round shape thrown on the wheel. To turn the round form oval, he cuts a crescent from the base and squeezes the sides of the dish together. Then he adds two textured handles. This episode includes a field trip to van Gilder's wood-fired kiln.
