Student engineers from two colleges or universities square off to build radio-controlled robots that are capable performing a specific task. Each team -- assisted by a single robotics expert -- has a single day to build a robot from scratch materials. At the end of the day the two robots battle it out in a timed match.
Faced with the challenge of building a robot that can launch laundry into a washing machine, students from The University at Buffalo design a pneumatic canon. Late in the building day, the Colorado School of Mines team switches from a kicking arm to an air canon as well. While the Colorado Ore Diggers make the best of a leaking air cannon in the competition, the Buffalo Bulls take the win and advance to the next round.
