Student engineers from two colleges or universities square off to build radio-controlled robots that are capable performing a specific task. Each team -- assisted by a single robotics expert -- has a single day to build a robot from scratch materials. At the end of the day the two robots battle it out in a timed match.
In episode 201, teams from Duke University and Vanderbilt University are asked to design and build a robot that can (1) break through a brick wall (2) drive over the debris, and (3) drive up a ramp to a flag. The Blue Devils build a robot with an action arm that attacks the wall from the top, while Vandy builds a robot with a crowbar spinner that bashes straight through brick. While the outlandish Vandy Viper seems promising, the Duke Demolicous action arm topples the wall and takes the win.
