Steve and Michelle, our young, newlywed homeowners, have dissimilar tastes: He likes antiques and she prefers clean, modern lines. Now that it's time to redo their cramped, outdated kitchen, our couple is having a hard time agreeing on a design. The solution is to do "the best of both worlds" -- a creative blend of traditional and modern features, which hopefully will keep both husband and wife happy.
In episode two, after putting down an underlayment a new vinyl tile floor is installed that looks just like slate and has metal spacer strips that look just like grout lines. A solid surface countertop is professionally installed and a smaller, matching counter tops off a refinished recycling center.
