On this episode, we pay tribute to the Eastern Influence in tools. First, author Sandor Nagyszalanczy brings a collection of Japanese planes, saws, and measuring tools, then demonstrates how Japanese hand planes differ from their western counterparts in design and performance. Cabinet maker Patrick Huggins gives a lesson on using Japanese hand saws. Finally, we'll see how Eastern tools have found their way into the crafting of Western pottery in potter John Sellbergs studio.
