Rob and Karen Tysinger have a son, Andrew, who is a musical prodigy. He plays several instruments and is a member of a prestigious local youth orchestra and jazz band. Andrew, who is 17, practices at home with his friends and is beginning to branch out into composing and recording. To accommodate his aspirations, Rob and Karen are going to give up their master bedroom suite and convert it into a music room.
Host Michael Ray Wisely and the homeowners take two closets and convert them into a mixing room and voice-recording booth. They frame out new walls, using a technique of alternating the studs that will create more soundproofing. A hole is cut in an existing wall between the two closets to put in a custom window, and then a floating floor is installed in the voice booth.
