David Horton is a contractor and workaholic, and his wife Jeanette and two sons have laid down the law--they want their husband and dad back so they've decided to set aside Fridays as "family night."
David wants to take a spare room in the basement and convert it to a family and home-theater room, which will be the focal point of the family nights. In part one of three, the project begins by working on an existing countertop and island by adding shelves and glass tiles. An interesting backsplash is created by using colorful glass that was gathered at local beaches, and recessed lighting and closet doors are installed.
