Dennis Williams and his sister own a beautiful Victorian building in San Francisco's historic Telegraph Hill district. Dennis's flat has a rooftop deck with a breathtaking, panoramic view of the city, but although the setting is spectacular, Dennis doesn't use the deck much due to a lack of shelter.
This project involves taking the existing area and turning it into an inviting space that allows Dennis and his guests to enjoy the scenery without getting sunburned or chilled to the bone. This is accomplished by installing an awning that provides shade over part of the space; painting and sprucing up the teal blue railing by adding a redwood railing system; building a trellis to allow vines to grow; adding subtle, ambient lighting to enhance the view; installing an automatic watering system to keep Dennis's plants alive even if he's traveling on business.
