Joel Ranck loves relaxing in front of a nice roaring fire. But he can't use his fireplace because whenever he lights it, smoke pours out of a nearby window frame and into his living room. Home inspector Tim Hockenberry helps Joel sift through the smoke and pinpoint the cause and solve the mystery. Tim then shows him how to fix it. The repairs include mortaring cracks in a firebox and flue, repointing chimney brick, repairing a chimney crown and installing new chimney caps with built-in dampers. Fellow home inspectors Wally Conway and Rick Yerger join Tim Hockenberry to offer tips on fireplace safety.
