In this episode we will visit a pair of highly successful vegetable gardens and get some expert advice from the gardeners behind them. The first site is an all-organic vegetable farm run by a husband-and-wife team who share easy recipes that any backyard gardener can use: garlic insecticide, pepper pesticide and a baking-soda fungicide. The second garden is a seven-acre garden where the staff experiments regularly with great results. We will also see the benefits of attracting caterpillars and butterflies to a vegetable garden. In the Homegrown Hint, we will demonstrate how to use privet, a normally invasive garden troublemaker, as an effective trellising material for beans.
