Modern furniture makers often use unusual materials to create dynamic contrasts. But in doing so it's crucial to figure out how to keep a sense of aesthetic balance between elements. In this episode, host Amy Devers makes an end table with an urban edge for Arthur, an avid reader who loves to kick back on his couch with a good book or a stack of magazines. She covers plywood with cement, embeds broken auto glass in a layer of clear epoxy resin and uses metal legs to complete the design.
