Tucked around the side of a building on a steep, quiet street is Meagan Dorhertys quirky little apartment, filled with eccentric details and encouraging sunlight and purchased just two months ago.
Her personal style fits her unusual little space perfectly, with mismatched pieces that are at once elegant and comfortable, with cheerful colors and crisp white accents. The problem? The walls are drab with bare patches and dingy paneling. The highboy dresser is too dark and you cant see the beautifully carved details and the fireplace dominates the tiny bedroom.
The solution will be Meagan-style, too, reflecting her love of all things classic and traditional but with fresh and cheerful elements.
The room gets a soft, airy feeling with walls painted in a crisp, clean blue with a matte finish and matching paneling in eggshell. Keeping the fireplace white provides the fresh focal point her room needs, enhanced with crewelwork on the decorative panel above the mantel.
Adding color and whimsy to an otherwise tired lamp will be the finishing touch to creating a room thats as cool and comforting as freshly laundered clothing.
