John and Michelle Camp are newlyweds and new homeowners. John is an aerospace engineer and robot creator who is constantly inventing new gadgets to solve life's little difficulties. He thinks with curiosity and humor in his work and life, and wants a space where his creative energy can thrive. John loves the old schoolroom/laboratory style and colors. Michelle wants his workshop to look cool and contained since it opens to the living room.
The design theme for this room is to create somewhat of a classroom feel that pushes the boundaries of your typical institution space, to create an environment reminiscent of the learning spaces most are familiar with, while injecting the type of fun interactive elements that John thrives on. The humor of a round chalkboard and grace of a window filled with light and equations will serve to tap into John's love for learning and awe for life while refining the look of the room to please Michelle.
