Kathy and Rich Osweiler just bought their first home--an 1885 Victorian flat. She loves the period detail and he loves all things modern. Enthusiastic entertainers, they're anxious to have a dining room that dazzles, but they are at a loss of how to create a look to suit both their tastes.
Currently the dining room is cavernous and bland, and the furniture has a country cottage feel--a far cry from the contemporary European look they'd like to achieve. They want to design the room around an abstract painting (blacks, red, greens) and modern dining chairs. The Fresh Coat design plan: a modern baroque dining room that has a fresh, fun look but also plays up the ornate details of the architecture.
