In the world of home design, much like fashion, sooner or later everything returns to popularity. So it is with wallpaper, which is making a huge comeback in homes across America. In this episode of DIY's
Creative Wall Coverings workshop we tackle one of the toughest rooms to wallpaper -- the kitchen: all angles, cabinets and windows, and full of challenges. Most notable (and one of the main reasons wallpaper presumably fell out of favor) is the removal of the old paper.
Host Cynthia Tinsley has all the angles covered, with tips on different methods of wallpaper removal, how best to measure and apply new paper, and creative seam matching, as well as unique ways to accent the new look. Along the way, she dispenses with the notion that wallpaper is inappropriate for a room with a lot of moisture and heat, and shows what type of paper works best when it comes to easy cleanup.
