In a brownstone apartment with twelve-foot ceilings and masonry party walls, the only way to hide the utilities and duct work is through careful use of partial dropped ceilings and closets. Bob shows a commonly used system for suspending a drywall ceiling from the original joists using pencil rod and "Chicago bar." Then oversized custom windows are meticulously installed to keep energy use efficient while restoring the original historic façade of the building.
